Demonic Haunting CatGhost or Demon: Part 2 – Demonic Hauntings

In Part 1, I explained that what we think of as ghosts are actually just cast-off layers left behind after the soul leaves the body and moves into the afterlife. Most of these “ghost-layers” interact with the physical world out of habit – relatively oblivious to the living. Sometimes, the soul-proper slides back into the ghost-layer, resulting in an intelligent haunting.

In this way, ghost-layers are similar to an old suit – one that has been stained and tattered from years of wear and tear. The more anger, sadness, and suffering a person experienced in life, the more worn down and dirty the suit.

And the more worn down and dirty, the more the suit appeals to lower-level spiritual entities, also known as demons.

A Quick Case Study

As I mentioned in Part 1, many spiritualists overlook the multifaceted nature of the soul. Psychics and mediums called in to do paranormal investigations will often mistake a demonic haunting for a mundane one. I’ll give you an example.

I recall a case of a family who had purchased a home and within days of moving in, began experiencing odd phenomena.

Doors and cupboards would open on their own. They would hear footsteps in the house when everyone was asleep. The dog would growl at nothing. You know – all of the usual horror movie tropes.

Of particular note was the abuse of their cat. On at least a few occasions, the sleeping feline would be launched into the air by an unseen foot.

Pretty messed up, right?

Well, long story short: it turned out that some years back, the house had belonged to a family which included a young boy. It was rumored that the father had physically abused the boy, and the child had taken to hurting animals – namely, cats. The boy had died, and the family had sold the house.

All of this was learned by the new residents only after their haunting had gone to the next level: red-eyed shadow figures, unexplained scratches and bruises, disembodied children’s laughter – you know – the usual.

Now, most people (including many psychics) connect the dots as follows:

Little troubled boy who liked to hurt cats, died tragically and his ghost continues to kick any cats he comes across. Not only that, but the poor little boy was so disturbed that he eventually started to take out rage on the living in other ways (as mentioned above). Right?

Wrong.

What really happened is that when the boy died, the main part of his soul moved into the afterlife, leaving behind the stained and damaged “ghost-layer” – which in his case, was quite soiled from all of the negative experiences he’d been subject to in life.

This ghost-layer was a prime target for a lower-level entity, a.k.a. demon – which easily slipped into the ghost-layer, just like one would slip into a baggy old suit.

It was the demon, not the little body, who took on the cat-kicking trait the boy had picked up in life.

If you don’t consider the multifaceted nature of the soul, it’s easy to confuse this type of haunting as being intelligent, and involving a troubled earth-bound spirit. But, it’s really just a mundane haunting that’s been co-opted by a demon.

Clearing Up the Confusion

The fact is, ghost-layers don’t have the energy or the prerogative to pester the living. Even the ghosts of society’s worst can only muster the strength to make the lights flicker once in a while. Demons on the other hand, feed on negative energy – energy which gives them the ability to do obnoxious things in the physical world.

Thus, differentiating between mundane and demonic hauntings is really quite simple.

Here is a list of things that ordinary ghost do:

  • Walk through the house, creating the sound of footsteps
  • Talk to each other, resulting in muffled conversations in adjacent rooms
  • Open doors and cupboards, and even occasionally set some dishes out
  • Turn lights on or off, and sometimes turn on a faucet
  • Lock and unlock doors
  • Appear as misty white apparitions
  • Take notice of the living
  • Attempt to interact with the living
  • Feeling that someone is sitting or laying down next to you
  • Play jokes on you and/or your pets
  • Push things off of tables and counters
  • Play the piano (if you have one)

If your haunting involves any of the above, your house is most likely just inhabited by a regular old ghost. However, ghost-layers can, but rarely do more obnoxious things like pushing things off of shelves and counters. Still, these will be the exception rather than the rule.

Demons on the other hand, can be total jerks, and demonic hauntings will often involve:

  • Shadow figures, sometimes with glowing-red eyes
  • Dark, shadowy spots that move or hover in the house – especially in corners, closets, and doorways
  • Unexplained bruises and scratches
  • Slamming of doors
  • Unlocking and opening of front doors, in particular
  • Unexplained cold-spots in the home
  • Strange flickering lights in the house at night, the source of which cannot be found
  • Terrified and/or furious pets
  • Feeling someone sit or lay down on top of you (usually making it difficult to breathe)
  • Sounds of high-pitched children’s laughter
  • Objects being thrown across the room
  • Waking up to the sensation of being choked
  • Really troubling dreams, usually of a sexual nature
  • Out of character, negative behavior of the living inhabitants of the home

If you are experiencing any of the above, your haunting is almost certainly demonic in nature.

If You’re Experiencing a Demonic Haunting

While Demonic hauntings are much less common than mundane hauntings, they’re a lot more common than you probably think. Most people easily dismiss things like cold-spots and shadows because they’re too engrossed in everyday life. Thus, the severity of the phenomena never really escalates.

I’ve gone into some detail on this subject in my article, “How to Deal With a Demon.” I highly encourage you to read it, as well as my other articles on the subject. But to summarize: demons are a natural phenomenon, they exist all over the world, and being afraid of them will only worsen your situation.

If your house does harbor a demon, you don’t have to move. Just get yourself healthy in body, mind, and spirit, and its presence should go relatively unnoticed.

If you have kids, you might have a slightly harder time as children spook easily and demons are happy enough to scare them.

If your kids are getting wigged out at night, do what you can to help them feel less afraid. Let them keep the lights on, teach them prayers of protection, let them sleep in your room – whatever it takes to keep them feeling safe.

And keep the scary movies to a minimum. That goes for the kids and the grown ups.
